Contest! - Digital Photo Album

It is no secret that I *love* random, fun photography related gadgets. Digital photo frames, keychains, and albums are some of my favorites.

I was shopping a week or so ago, and I saw these really cool little digital photo albums. I bought one for myself :-) and one to give away to one of you! It is made by enVue by Burnes, and has internal memory, as well as an SD card slot. It is about 3.5" wide by about 4.5" tall and about 1/2" thick. The image screen is similar in size to a wallet photo. It comes with a little faux leather sleeve and a USB cable.
Oh, and in case you are wondering -- yes, I did paste a photo onto the screen in Photoshop. I could only get reflections of my patio to show up on the screen when I took the photo.

To enter the contest, you must be a follower of this blog, and leave me a comment on this post. Tell me why you love photography. :-) Comments must be posted before 12:00 midnight MST on Tuesday, April 14th. I will randomly choose a winner, and post it Wednesday morning.

The winner must contact me via email at: phototips@alexismiller.com within 48 hours of being announced.

Why I love photography? Because its the only time you can fully capture a moment and when you look at it a week, a month, or years later- everything from that moment floods back and you can remember the happiness, the heartache or just how simple and carefree a moment can be, and its a reminder that time always marches on. So for just a moment- it can take you back.

oh goddness that is cute!

I love photography because I love looking at photographs. Especially old photographer because it helps me remember something I might have forgotten, or I learn something I didn't know before. It's amazing how many emotions a simple photograph can bring out.

Monica said...

Why i love photography??? Because every time the shutter clicks, time stands still... and memories will always be there for you to "admire", despite how technically incorrect the photo is.

Hayley said...

I love photography because you can cature a feeling, event, etc on a piece of paper...how cool is that?!!!

Jen said...

I love photography because a photo can take you back to a moment in time! I love looking at old photos. They are full of history and those special moments. Too many times people dont take a moment to appreciate whats around them and I think that photography helps with that. It makes me step back during the moment but the best is reliving the moments when you look back through photo albums!

I love photography becuase I think that it is an amazing gift to be able to capture a moment, emotion, or relationship so that it can be held onto and remembered long after it has passed. I believe that pictures make a house a home and that you can never have too many!

I love photography because when I take an amazing picture for someone it brings them such happiness and its a happiness that stays with them forever. It also makes me so happy to see them so happy! Moments in life are so hard to remember but when they are photographed its so easy to look back and remember the whole day.

I love photography for many reasons, but capturing moments in time that make you relive it is probably the biggest. And then there is the constant challenge of it...everytime I shoot I learn something new and it challenges me to be better.

Beth said...

Why I love photography....I love photography because, you are capturing a moment at that time that will last forever. Photos are the only thing that you have left when someone is not with us any longer. You would never know your background if it wasnt for photo's of your loved ones in the past.

Photography is a way to hold on to a feeling forever even after the day is long gone~ To me it is my happy place, my kid's never grow up, I get married and fall in love all over, my Grandpa lives again, and I enjoy the warm weather in the winter~ Whatever the case may be it comes to life with a photograph! A photograph is the vault to all my memories. That is why I love photography!

Laura said...

I love photography because it gives me the opportunity to capture life in the still and be able to look at it for years to come, send it to grandparents that don't live close by, and brag about my cute little kiddos.

I love photography because...
(a) I love to capture beauty
(b) I love to capture the emotions of a moment in time.

Thistle Creek Photography said...

I love photography because beauty is fleeting and so is my memory.. and because words are not adequate to describe the wonders God has blessed us with in nature and in our lives and families.

What a great giveaway!!

I love photography because I love what you can DO with photos! The possibilities are endless :) They provide such a great source of art for your home - and you can choose photos that mean something to you - from a vacation or special event.

Kaja said...

I love photography because I love capturing those precious moments of my children. I'll never have them back and it's the only way to really keep them with me forever.

Erin Schwamb said...

I love photography simply because it is a true account of history. A picture cannot lie like the written word can. I can look at family members and understand what their lives were like from the details in the photographs. Future generations will see my photographs and know what that one specific moment was like for the person in the photograph no matter what they were doing or feeling at the time.

Erica said...

I love stories and photos tell a story so easily. They capture the moment in such a way that it would take hundreds or thousands of words to describe.

Cardas Photography said...

I love photography because I have a *horrible* memory. But when I look at a photograph, I am instantly tansported back to that instant, I can feel the joy, smell the air and hear the sounds. I love being able to capture those moments for others as well!!

Penny said...

I love photography because its a way to express myself and capture the true person.

Dimitri said...

Simply because it's a product of my imagination combined with the reality of the subject. I interpret each picture through my own eyes and soul.

Anonymous said...

Why I love photography? I was always that kid who could not get enough of my family photos and always had my head in the albums. I guess I have always been a visual person, and photography for me is a way to capture an emotion or a feeling of that moment or event so that I can always relive it anytime I want! Now as a Mommy it is almost an obsession to capture every special moment in my twin sons lives. I would be lost without my camera/photos! :-)

I don't know if I qualify without a blogger account, but even if I don't I wanted to post anyway. I do enjoy your blog's photoshop advise, templates and photo crafts even if I don't always post to let you know! :-) sknasser@aol.com

I love photography for the simple reason of keeping memories. I LOVE your blog and have learned SO much from it. THANKS!

Arya said...

I love photography because of the memories I can capture. My need to capture my family on film & digital media have been a god send. If it wasn't for my love of my camera and the memories I capture I wouldn't have images of my grandparents or Great Grandparents to share with my kids.

Jaime said...

I love photography because it tells a story without having to use words. It is art. It is beautiful.

Thanks for the opportunity!

Bobbi said...

I love photography because it forever captures the memories of an event, which in turns sparks the emotions of that moment. My grandfather recently passed away and reliving the memory of events passed through the (thousands of) photos has been so helpful in the healing process.

Nicki, said...

How very generous. I love photography because it allows me the opportunity to express and explore my creative side. It lets me capture a time, a place, and an emotion. It affords me the opportunity to escape reality as I reminisce back into the photo; and lets me feel like a kid on Christmas as I upload pictures and find little treasures not immediately seen on the LCD (this was even more the case when I used film). I love photography because it is an activity outside of being MOM, WIFE, or PARALEGAL and gives me something I can share with my family.

Brock, Heather and Ethan said...

I love photography because it lets me capture a moment in time, a moment I want to cherish forever. Even if its a happy moment, a silly moment, a sad moment, what ever the moment I can look back on it laugh or cry, and remember the happiness of that moment in time that I got to freeze. That's why I love photography.

Ali said...

When I am shooting I feel free from everything. I feel free from every day stress, all the worries in life and I just get to focus on photography. It is my relaxation.

K said...

I love photography because it reminds me great memories with my children or even of my own childhood. It can take me right back to that time - the smells and feelings I experienced. And most of all being able to see people as they were at that time.

KittenJen said...

Photography is like time travel. I can bottle up little moments and enjoy them for years to come. I especially love capturing the moments that are so fleeting. Pregnant bellies that have grown to the point where the belly button pops out, newborns with their tiny toes and fingers that will double in size in the next moment, or a child with their favorite toy, before it is discarded and forgotten. Who wouldn't love that?

LuckyStarLiving said...

I grew up loving photographs. My mom had TONS of albums in her memory trunk, and as kids we would drag them out and dedicate whole afternoons to looking at them and reliving memories. I've been addicted ever since. The challenge of course is to remember to step out from behind the camera and actually LIVE the moments I am capturing. I know I will be taking photos of all the special and everyday moments of my life, until the day I die. It's like leaving a legacy of family history behind.

waipuilani said...

I love photography because you can share those special moments with friends and family.

I love photography because it allows me to create memories for my children that will last longer than I will. I also love that it causes you to stop and enjoy things you may not otherwise - like a beautiful flower or a gorgeous sunset! Photography is my stress relief!

I love photography because right now it's the only thing that stops the pain of the depression I'm in right now.

I get caught up in the potential of creating something beautiful and that little bit of magic helps me transcend the black hole.

I love photography because nothing jogs memories like looking at photos. And I love memories!

I came here to say why I love photography, but I don't think there is anything that I could say that would get the point across more than your first responder, Bree. I didn't mean to read it, but that's it. Every photo brings back THAT feeling-whether its happy or sad. the overwhelming joy or the unending heartache. Her post was just right on!!

ya know the song by Nickelback-Photograph? I love that song, because I look at the photos from school and wonder the same "what the is on his head"! lol It captures everything about photographs, because the memories just flood you-no matter how long it's been.

I hope Bree wins your contest, she is very good at her writing.

I love photography for 2 reasons.
The first reason is that I have captured a moment in someones life .. and mine that will be theres to cherish forever. I have very few pictures of my childhood due to a flod in the basement. I promised myself that I would have tons of pictures of my kids so they wouldn't have to worry about that.
The second reason is because my husband works long hours(12 hour days, six days a week) and for me to love photography and take pictures of our kids,he doesn't miss a moment of anything. He actually told me this weekend that he has watched his kids grow up through pictures. I kind of felt bad for him. That is why I love photography.

Hi Alexis.

First, I wanted to tell you that I can so sympathize on the loss of a father. My Dad was my best friend, and when he died, a little piece of me died too. I miss him everyday!

I love photography because it was a hobby that we could do together, and it is something that I will be able to do forever. I just love capturing people's emotions. And since I love to scrapbook, I wanted my photos to match all the work that went into my pages!

Have a great day!

I love photography because it keep our cherished memories with us for a lifetime. Without photographs so much of our lives and the lives of our loved ones would be forgotten forever. When I look at my photos I can almost feel like I'm there again and remember the feeling that go with the memory. I don't know what I would do without photography.

Why I love photography? It allows me to look at the world in a different way. Everyday ordinary things look so different to me through the camera lens. Capturing a special moment, a special person, a special place - it's amazing. It's an wonderful thing to take a photo, process it and see the art. I love looking at photos and reliving the emotion of that one moment in time we can never get back. Photography gives that moment back. Sometimes, just for a brief few seconds, it gives us back a childhood or lost loved one. Memories. And helping others experience that through my photography is thrilling.

My children grow too darn fast. Perhaps I'm a control freak, but I love to control the light. I love to sit on my couchand look at their adorable well behaved faces, even if they ar in the other room tearing the house apart. I love being able to share my talent with other mothers who appreciate good photography as much I do.

Alexis! What an incredible offer. This is just too cute! My reason for first becoming involved in photography was to have an "outlet" when my Dad died. Now I absolutely love the sense of accomplishment I feel when I see that great shot, or the emotion that comes back when I see that amazingly beautiful shot. It's all about the feelings photography generates.

I love photography because I love those everyday moments. But more important, is im obsessed by giving those memories to my children. My mother didn't take pictures and she was drunk for much of my child hood. The only ones I have are the ones I remembered. I don't want that for my own children. I want to tell them those stores, thru pictures, stories everything.

Why I love photography? How do you answer such a question? It seems the technical aspect of digital truly appeals to my geek side, yet the opportunity to capture an image that will bring such emotion from an individual when they view the image is majestic. When I cry, smile or laugh at an image I have taken always brings me back to the exact moment when the shutter clicks and I know inside my heart that the image is timeless.

I love photography because it's a moment that's been preserved, instead of being forever lost to the sands of time.

I love photography for so many reasons. One of the biggest is about capturing my babies forever as babies. They grow so fast! I'd love this little gadget and I think its very cool that you're giving it away. What a sweetheart!

Oh my gosh why do I love photography? I love being able to capture that special moment...and later to be able to go back and look at it and relive it again and again through the picture.
Also, my Mother was extremely talented where it came to anything artsy. She was an amazing painter. I was always so envious of her talents and thought the "art" gene just passed me by. I have found through my photography that I do pocess that art gene after all. So even though my Mother never got to see and enjoy my love of photography before she passed...I still often feel a connection with her though my photography because she taught me about rules of third...lighting, composition, long before I picked up a camera. THANKS MOM...thanks for all the light you shine my way so I can capture a peice of heaven here on earth!

That is an awesome gift! I love photos - Planning them, taking them, looking at them, sharing them with others. I love the look on a person's face when they see beautiful photos of their loved ones for the first time. I love the feeling I get when I look back at photos of my friends and family, and the moments captured.

My love of photography started when I took a picture of a baby and I thought it was great, but when I gave it to his mom, she cried and said" You have captured a moment I didn't even know happened that I would have missed!" I love the memories photography gives!

I love photography because I can capture emotions, beauty, life just by a simple click.

For the good and the bad memories. I especially love to have the ability of transforming something that looks ugly at first sight to something beautiful. This is the reason why I practice photography since I am a teenager. It's a big part of my life and I can not see myself not doing it. It brings me so much joy and happiness!

I try to learn everyday a new thing or a new trick simply by looking at the best photographer and by reading great books. But I mostly learn through my mistakes...and as you know, practice makes perfect right? :)

Photography is an amazing art! One day, my children will learn it too.

It is hard to narrow down why I love photography, but I think it is because I love creating things. I love being able to create memories for people to look back on in 20 even 50 years and have then say, wow, I remember this day. Also, because I am a busy, working full-time wife and momma that is going to school for nursing. So it doesn't leave me much "me" time, and photography gives me that. I also want to add, that this is SO generous of you to give away!
