Nikon D80 Camera Giveaway!

I have been wanting to do a really fun giveaway on this blog forever, and I happened to get this opportunity! :) QuickPro Camera Guides and Alexis Miller Photography are teaming up to give away this Nikon D80 with a Nikon 24-85mm Lens! ETA: This lens is the 3.5 one, not the 2.8 one - just don't want any confusion! The camera was used only for a few hours during the filming of the QuickPro Camera Guide for the Nikon D80, so it is used, but not very much! I am excited to give it away because I love how much my cameras have changed my life, and I hope that someone will love this camera and taking pictures with it as much as I do!

Here are the rules for this giveaway. For one entry into the giveaway contest:
  1. You must be a follower of this blog.
  2. Leave a comment on this post before Midnight MST on Thursday March 18, 2010. Tell us why you want to win this camera.

And, if you would like one extra entry to the contest, post a link to this blog somewhere online (your blog, message board, facebook, etc.). Then, post a comment with a link to your link on this post.

I'd love to win this because I'm starting to outgrow my little D40 that could, but an upgrade is not in my near future.

What a great giveaway!

I've been following your blog on my google reader for a little while, does that count? I believe this is my first commenting - Nikons have a way of bringing comments out in me.

I'd like to win because I have several people lined up asking me to take shots of them, even a wedding in July!! Yikes, time to start a side business, a Nikon would be sooooo nice :) Thanks for the chance!

I took your photography class last fall in Hyrum and I learned a TON, I admire how well you photograph and the tips you give are outstanding. I never realized how much I was doing wrong haha. I would love to have a Nikon camera because I've heard great things about them and I'm trying to get more into photography and use an awesome camera...so this one would be perfect! I'm totally posting this on my facebook too!

If I were to win this camera, I would give it to my schools journalism class. They have one camera and several students that want to learn photography. Each student has so little time behind the camera. A second camera would make a huge difference. I'm already volunteer teaching and would love to add this gift too!

OK, no business here. I am a mom who's always loved photography but until recently I had to work full-time in nursing to be practical and pay the bills. I am recently remarried and have an adorable 4 month old and enough free-time at home (with my 4 kids) that I started taking pictures. I wanted to sign up for a class, but figured I'd just take pictures at home (on an old Canon Powershot) until I had enough to buy a nice camera. Winning a free camera would be amazing!!! And help me as I learn to take better pictures.

what a wonderful giveaway, thanks alexis! i would love to win this because i have been dreaming of changing brands. i currenty shoot pentax, a pretty basic model. i have come to a place in my photographic journey that i have out grown this camera. but because i am not pro, and do not shoot for pay, i can not afford to upgrade. i have been undecided if i will switch to canon or nikon, i have heard wonderful things about both. but it sure would be great to win, and have that decision made for me. i would most likely sell my pentax in order to buy lenses. i am sure i want a 50mm, definately a lens i can't afford with my pentax. thank you for the wonderful opportunity. Hi! I am new to your blog but really love it!

What a great chance to win this camera. I would like to win it for my son. He has started to learn photography as his aim is to become a photographer. However, to buy a decent camera is very expensive, as are all the coursematerials etc so for the moment he has borrowed a camera using film and is taking black and white pictures. It would really give him a boost if I were to win this!

I'd also love to follow you, but other than putting you in my bloglist, is there somewhere I could click so you are in my google reader? Thanks very much for this opportunity and I will certainly be following your blog one way or another.

This giveaway could not come at a better time. Last night was my son's talent show at his junior high. Not one picture came out of the 140 pictures I took with my Olympus camera. Something went wrong with the flash and I am so disappointed. It was the first time my son has performed in public with his music. Being an avid scrapbooker I have the program to scrap with from the show but would have loved some pictures to go with it. If I won this camera I would be sure to capture the moments from now on. Thanks for this oppotunity as I am out of work and don't have the means to get a new camera.

What an awesome prize! I would love to win this camera so I can take better pictures of my kids and have the pictures that I already take turn out better! I do have some photography skills but no money to buy a nice camera. So I have to use my two year old crappy digital (I think it's like 9 pixels or whatever, it's early and I'm running on 4 interrupted hours of sleep), it's super slow and it eats batteries like no one's business. :( The worst is that by the time it gets around to taking a picture, the moment (my kids are 5 months and 19 months) has passed and my camera has missed it. I just got an old used Canon Rebel off Craigslist but it's film. The pictures are AMAZING from it, my first taste of a professional camera, but they are film, so it gets expensive. So I would LOVE this camera for SO MANY REASONS!!!! <3

I would LOVE this camera because at the moment I am almost camera-less (have a crappy sony digital that's about 10 years old). I use to have the full-time use of a Nikon D-40 - it was the work camera - then work decided they wanted to keep it in the office for others to use (and they totally abuse it and don't love lit like I do!). Unfortunately I can't afford to buy another decent Nikon. How I miss little Niki, it was like taking away my baby. Please, please, please pick me!

Right now I have a Nikon E4800 camera, which is a stupid point and shoot. It was a gift when I graduated from art school 5 years ago. I recently left my horrible job at Walmart (evil! evil!) to pursue art full-time and winning this camera would really help me. I need something better to photograph my artwork with, as well as just for taking pretty pictures!

Hi, I would love to win this camera so I can finally replace my old SLR camera. Way back in 2001, after I separated from my then partner, I saved up all my spare cash to buy a new SLR camera. Something I'd wanted since I was a teen. Within weeks, the next best thing since sliced bread became a popular house hold item - the digital camera. Since then I have only been able to afford a point and shoot camera and my photography hobby has suffered because of it. Next year, I hope to do a 'Bachelor of Photography' course so this prize would be a great 'study aid'.

Hi Alexis!

I bought my first camera in 2007 and discovered that I had a talent for taking pictures! I've been using my 2nd camera (a Canon Powershot SD960) to make my own calendars and occasionally take family portraits - I even did my sister's bridal pictures.

I love my camera, and I get great pictures from it, but I'd love to update to an SLR camera, because it would really be a boost to me as a photographer. I could do so much more with an SLR and I think it would give me a more experienced look when I'm working on portraits.

Thanks!
Mindy

Oh Boy. How will you ever pick? There's so many of us wanting to do good things with cameras...So many of us wanting to capture the special moments of our lives! Why? Because we don't only want to take pictures--we want our hearts to. We want to remember the moments--and magnify them to the best of our abilities, regardless of the kind of cameras we have or the knowledge of photography we carry in our own personal camera bags. A camera like this is fantastic, but we all know it's the heart that goes into each photo that truly captures the moment.

Good luck!

Denden said...

I've always wanted and dreamed to have a DSLR. But something always comes up that takes priority when it comes to finances (example: A few summers ago, just when I thought I'd be getting a DSLR for Xmas, A/C conked out ... buy a new A/C or DSLR? LOL!). I enjoy looking at pictures taken by other people using their DSLR and always wish that I can experiment too. I esp. love the effect of having a very sharp subject against a blurred background. I like to check out photography sites like yours for techniques but there's not really much I can do with a point-and-shoot. I have an 8-yr-old boy and an almost 6-yr-old girl and there are so many times when I wish I had a DSLR and play around with the settings and learn and enjoy.

Pache said...

Stinky Pittsburgh broke my camera today and I can't go back to the world without a dSLR. Playing around with photography is my escape from the stresses in life and a way to put me in the mindset of looking for the beautiful and interesting in everything.

I would love to have this camera, I own a D80 that recently went in for firmware upgrade and dealer I was dealing with that was sending it back for the upgrade dropped it or something causing damage to the case and inner mechanism. They denied doing so. Resulting in Nikon voiding my warranty and the camera now not working correctly (miss firing, clunking, off balanced) which hinders my success and my business moving forward.

Sandra said...

Back in the days, I was married to Nikon but when I was given a digital camera it was a Canon. GASP! Nikon sits in the camera bag, woebegone and sad and, frankly, so am I. My love affair with Nikon has never ended and I want it back.
If I win, I'll give the Canon away. BTW, I couldn't find your follower button so I put your address in my side blog. You'll show up on my blog and when I find your follower button, I'm happy to follow.
I'm also having a Belgian waffle maker giveaway on my blog.
